As most of you know, I have teamed up with Roots and Shoots Farm for this season’s CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Throughout the season, I will post updates about what we receive, recipe suggestions, and tips and tricks to get the most out of your CSA. To find a CSA in your area, simply search the Internet for “CSA” + your city.
So, the story this summer has been all about the weather. That in and of itself is not really a surprise. But, it seems like this year has been all about extremes.
This past weekend, we had multiple tornadoes touch down in the city. We ended up loosing power for almost 3 days. Thankfully, we did not lose any food, but others were not so lucky.
Our friends at the Roots and Shoots farm were not affected by the storms thank goodness. They are working closely with their customers to make any accommodations because of the storms.
Here is a list of what we received:
- Small Tatsoi
- Honeynut Squash
- Romanesco or Fennel
- Black Futsu Pumpkin
- Hot Peppers
- Choice of herbs
Choose 4 quarts of the following (any combo)
- Early Potatoes
Each week I will get home as quick as possible so that I can do an unboxing video so everyone can see what we received.
Check back each week to see our next unboxing. I have a feeling we are in for some amazing food.
