As most of you know, I have teamed up with Roots and Shoots Farm for this season’s CSA (Community Supported Agriculture). Throughout the season, I will post updates about what we receive, recipe suggestions, and tips and tricks to get the most out of your CSA. To find a CSA in your area, simply search the Internet for “CSA” + your city.
Week #12 has arrived. The kids are back at school and the veggies look amazing. As an added bonus: the hot summer weather is still here. Yayyy.
I have started to prep and store food for the fall and winter. Here are a few pages that you may find helpful. These can be handy whether you subscribe to a CSA, have a very generous gardening neighbour, or want to take advantage of cheaper produce prices.
- Preserving Herbs
- Drying garlic and spring onions
- Roasted Tomatoes
- Refrigerator Pickles
- CSA Storage Strategies
Making soup is always an awesome strategy for using up bibs and bobs of veggies. I have created a helpful guide for making your own customized soups that you may find helpful: Homemade Soup Generator
Here is a list of what we received:
- Red Cabbage
- Head Lettuce or Kale
- Potatoes
- Carrots
- Beets
- Tomatoes
- Onions
- Broccoli
- Peppers
- Hot Pepper
- Choice of Herb
Each week I will get home as quick as possible so that I can do an unboxing video so everyone can see what we received.
Check back each week to see our next unboxing. I have a feeling we are in for some amazing food.
